You've been infected

The new pandemic

There’s a new pandemic…

And you’ve been infected.

The symptoms are alarming:

• Brain-numbness

• Eye fatigue

• Upset stomach

And in some cases…diarrhreaaaaaa :(

The cause?

Boring copy/paste content.

Everyone is rewording the same thing in slightly different ways.

“Believe and you can achieve!”

“You are your greatest asset!”

The content is so redundant that people make memes like this to make fun of the absurdity:

The result?

The creators who make this type of content attract an audience of potatoes who never truly buy into their brand or buy any of their products or services.

But thankfully doctor Dakota has a cure for you…

How To Build Your Audience of Die-Hard Fans

Social media as you know it has changed in the past year.

• ChatGPT written posts

• Fortune-cookie content

• Flexing Lambos and Rolexes

Hundreds of millions of pieces of this content are posted every day.

Gone are the days of posting copy/paste content and growing by thousands of followers.

People are bored with generic.

They want real and authentic content.

It’s why you see brands like Dan Koe and Alex Hormozi exploding.

These types of creators are documenting their real-world experience and worldviews.

They are collecting ideas, filtering it through their experience, and sharing it on social media.

And the beautiful thing?

It can’t be copied.

By speaking from your experience, you instantly separate yourself from the crowds of people on social media.

Now, I know what you might be thinking:

“But Dakota, I don’t have much experience! What do I even talk about?”

And to that, I would respond with:

“BULLSH*T.”

Every day, you do stuff worthy of an interesting post on social media.

You just haven’t learned to view it as interesting.

• The conversation you had with the stranger at the coffee shop

• The chapter you read from the book you’re reading

• The lesson you learned from a recent failure

• The results you got for your client

• The experience you had doing copious amounts of psychodelic plant medicine in the Costa Rican jungle with a shaman

Notice a pattern among these?

They’re experiences that happen off social media.

The problem with creators is that they spend all day only on Instagram, X, or YouTube looking for high-performing content to repurpose.

This causes them to create content like everyone else.

The best thing you can do is to go out and live a life worth posting about.

So, here’s what I want you to do…

Take 5-15 minutes at the end of your day and make a bullet point list of all the significant things that happened throughout your day.

Then pick one and think to yourself, “What was the main takeaway I learned from ______”.

My favorite framework to create content is the What, Why, How Framework:

  1. State what you’re talking about

  2. Explain why it’s important

  3. Show how to apply it

Then, record a quick 1-3 minute video of you talking about the topic.

My Challenge To You

I recently created a challenge inside my Growth Ghost program.

For the next 7 days, post a 60+ second video of you talking to the camera.

It can be about anything, it just can’t be scripted.

It won’t be high-production value or sexy, but that’s the point.

This type of content might not get crazy engagement, but it does something better.

It builds a connection with your audience.

It shows you’re a real person and gives a raw feel to your content.

So few people are willing to do this, and that’s why it’s so powerful.

You can’t fake the authenticity.

The people inside my program have been doing it for the past few days and they’ve been loving it.

They’re separating themselves from the cookie-cutter content and getting people hitting them up in the DMs.

So, my friend, I extend the challenge to you.

For the next 7 days, post a 60+ second video of you talking to your camera about a takeaway you had or an interesting story.

At first, it’ll feel awkward, but you’ll get comfortable with it as you do more reps.

This will have 2 big benefits:

1) You’ll condition your brain to recognize the significant events that happen in your day and it’ll be easier to create content in the future

2) You’ll stand out from the crowd and build a deeper connection with your audience

So, go out there and make some videos (even if they’re ugly).

I’m looking forward to seeing them on the timeline.

Dakota “End The Pandemic” Robertson
