Wil you be replaced by AI?
Adapt or die...
It’s 10am.
The smell of toasted coffee beans fill my nostrils.
My AirPods are blasting a Hans Zimmer movie soundtrack to drown out the chaos at the cafe.
I’m writing the next batch of masculinity tweets for my p_rn star ghostwriting client (fun times).
I decide to procrastinate between my next sip of coffee and check Twitter.
And that’s when I see it…
Everyone is losing their minds over a new software:
ChatGPT-3
It just launched, and I’m already seeing posts fill the timeline:
“RIP writers.”
“Copywriting is dead.”
“Ghostwriters will be ghosts.”
I'm not gonna lie, I had a mini existential crisis.
I started picturing myself back at Domino's, making small talk with customers hoping to get more than a 69-cent tip.
But over the next few months, something weird happened…
I went from making $20K/month to hitting my first $50K/month with ghostwriting.
Not less. More.
Because while everyone else was freaking out about AI taking over, I figured out something crucial:
AI isn't here to replace humans.
It's here to replace humans who don't know how to use AI.
Think about it like this:
When calculators were invented, did mathematicians become unemployed?
Hell nah.
They just stopped wasting time on basic arithmetic and started solving rocket science problems.
Same thing's happening now.
Whether you run your own business as a ghostwriter or work a job…
The people getting replaced by AI are the ones resisting it.
Just like the internet back in the early 2000s.
Meanwhile, the smart ones are using AI like a superpower.
With AI, I was able to do the work of 5 writers and get 8 hours of work done in 2.
And here's the kicker:
The quality of my work got BETTER, not worse.
Because AI handled the heavy lifting while I focused on what actually matters:
Voice.
Selling.
Strategy.
Storytelling.
Psychology.
Because ghostwriting clients don’t pay for you to move your fingers across a keyboard.
They pay for your brain, time, and strategy.
Your ability to understand their audience and craft messages that hit different.
Sure, anyone can use AI to write words…
But it’s like handing over a Ferrari to a toddler.
If you don’t understand
What makes for engaging content.
How to create a social media strategy.
How to prompt AI so it doesn’t create AI slop.
Then AI is useless.
Here's what I learned:
The future of work isn't about competing with AI.
It's about becoming irreplaceable BY using AI.
The ghostwriters making bank right now aren't the ones avoiding AI. They're the ones who learned to conduct the orchestra while AI plays the instruments.
But here's the thing: this window won't stay open forever.
Right now, while most people are either ignoring AI or using it like a fancy autocomplete, there's a massive opportunity for the people who actually figure this out.
They’ll capture market share.
And the rest?
Well, they'll be competing with freelancers on Fiverr charging $10 for a blog post.
And trust me, you don't want to be in that race to the bottom.
So if you're sitting there thinking "I need to figure this AI stuff out but I have no clue where to start," I get it.
A couple years ago, I was asking ChatGPT to write me grocery lists because I didn't know what else to do with it.
Now we’re using AI to scale our ghostwriting business in ways that would've taken us years to figure out manually.
And I'm teaching other people to do the same thing.
Just last week, our Growth Ghost client, Anna, landed a $5K client.

So if you’re ready to adapt to AI instead of get replaced by it…
Much love,
Your Canadian friend,
Dakota “AI Til’ I Die” Robertson
