Why I pay $450/mo for my gym lol
I currently pay $450 gym membership for the month.
Nice equipment? Sure.
Is it expensive? Hell yeah.
Do they have a literal barber in the back of the change room? Yes lol.
But that's not why I pay.
See, I used to go to those $10/month commercial gyms.
You know the ones... packed with New Years resolutioners in January, then half empty by March.
Most of the time I went, I’d wait 10 minutes for a bench. Equipment was always taken. Couldn't get in a flow state because I was constantly looking for what was available.
My 45-minute workout turned into a 90-minute ordeal.
But here's the real problem:
When the price is low, you get a different crowd.
People who aren't fully committed.
They sign up because "it's only $10," then show up twice a month and wonder why they're not seeing results.
At my current gym? Different story.
The people there aren't fucking around.
They're committed.
Why?
Because when you're paying $450 a month, you sure as hell make sure you get your money's worth.
Pain creates accountability.
And this made me realize something about success in general:
Most people are stuck in what I call "beginner hell" — constantly consuming information but never taking real action.
They'll read 100 business books.
Buy $20 courses on Udemy.
Watch endless YouTube videos.
But as their “knowledge” grows, their bank account shrinks.
Why?
Because the investment is so small, there's no real skin in the game. No pain pushing them to take action.
It's like those $10 gym memberships. Easy to skip when you're barely feeling the hit to your wallet.
This is why I see so many aspiring creators and entrepreneurs who've "been learning" for months (or years) but still haven't landed a single high-paying client.
They're stuck consuming endless free content…
Maybe buying a cheap course here and there…
But never getting the personal feedback, accountability, and proven systems they actually need to succeed.
They're trying to save money, but they're actually wasting time.
The one resource you can never get back.
Just like my gym membership, investing in proper guidance isn't just about the information or the "equipment."
It's about:
Being in an environment with other committed people
Getting personal attention and feedback
Having real skin in the game that motivates you to show up
Following proven systems instead of piecing together random free advice
The price of anything is the amount of life you exchange for it.
That’s why I’ve always invested in mentors and coaches (and now why I can afford a $450/month gym).
Sometimes paying more upfront saves you years of wasted time and frustration.
Think about that next time you're tempted to stay in "learning mode" forever.
