I got the worst STD

I had the worst STD you can get.

And no, I'm not talking about the ones they warned you about in health class…

I'm talking about Shiny Thing Disorder.

For years, I was trapped in a brutal cycle:

Find a new business model → get excited → grind for a few weeks → progress slower than promised → give up when shit gets hard → repeat.

I blamed myself every time.

  • Thought I was lazy.

  • Thought I was broken.

  • Thought maybe I just didn't have what it takes to build a business.

But here's what I learned…

You're not the problem. The work is.

Most business models fail because they violate 1 of 2 laws:

Law #1: If there's no market demand, you're f*cked.

Doesn't matter how hard you work. If nobody wants what you're selling, you're just LARPing as an entrepreneur.

Law #2: If you hate the work, you'll quit.

Every business hits obstacles. If you're not genuinely interested in the work, every challenge becomes an excuse to bail.

You need both.

High demand + genuine interest.

That's why I finally stuck with ghostwriting after failing at everything else:

High demand?

Check. Every business needs content, but most founders would rather eat glass than write it themselves.

Genuinely interested?

Yup. I actually enjoy writing and interviewing successful people on how their brains work.

When work feels like play, even the hard parts become fun puzzles instead of soul-crushing obstacles.

This is the filter I wish someone gave me when I was 22, broke, and bouncing between business models like a pinball:

So before you commit to any business model, ask yourself:

  1. Is there real market demand? (Not "I think people might want this," but "people are actively paying for this right now.")

  2. Do I actually give a shit about the work itself? (Not the money. Not the lifestyle. The actual day-to-day tasks.)

If the answer to either question is "no," save yourself the time and move on.

I burned 3 years chasing business models that violated one or both of these laws. Don't make the same mistake.
