The Harsh Truth About Building a Brand (And Learning Spanish)

So, I’ve spent 6 months out of the last year trying to become fluent in Spanish.

Spoiler alert: I’m not (yet).

But after 6 months of grinding out 2 hours every weekday, I can at least order a coffee without accidentally proposing to the barista.

But at first?

I had no idea what the hell anyone was saying.

I felt like an autistic kid tossed into a mosh pit of screaming people at a death metal concert.

But I kept at it, because I’m too stubborn to quit (thanks, childhood trauma).

And bit by bit, things started to click.

I’d catch a word here, understand a phrase there.

Eventually, the lessons began stacking up like Legos, and suddenly the language wasn’t just noise.

Now, I’m not fluent…

But I can navigate a menu without without accidentally ordering something that sounds like it belongs on an episode of Fear Factor.

And lemme tell ya, that’s a win.

So, why am I telling you this?

The Harsh Truth…

Learning Spanish is like learning to:

  • Write content

  • Build a business

  • Grow a personal brand

Now, I could be the Dollar Store version of David Goggins and say:

“CONSISTENCY IS KEY.”

And yeah, showing up every day whether I wanted to or not was definitely crucial…

But let’s be real—consistency alone isn’t enough.

It’s like those poor souls who think they’re going to master Spanish by dicking around on Duolingo for 5 minutes a day.

Cute, but not happening, Brad.

Look, if you really want to build your brand, you don’t need another TED Talk or business book.

You need feedback.

You can post content until your eyes bleed, but if you’re not getting the right feedback, you’re just spinning your wheels.

That’s why most people end up frustrated, wondering why nobody’s paying attention to them online.

(Hint: it’s not because you’re shadow banned).

The “No-BS” Framework for Growing Your Brand (Without Losing Your Mind)

Alright, let’s cut the crap.

Let’s skip the cliche advice:

“Post consistently, and the followers will come.”

Yeah, and if you drink enough kale smoothies, you might live forever.

But let’s get real—nobody’s building an empire just by posting selfies and inspirational quotes.

Here’s your actual game plan:

1. Show Up (Even When You’d Rather Stab Your Eyes Out)

Let’s face it, showing up every day can feel like dragging your balls through a field of broken glass.

But if you want to build something real, you’ve got to do it (even you, ladies).

Showing up isn’t the goal; it’s just the bare minimum.

2. Get Roasted

Consistency is useless if you’re consistently doing the wrong thing.

You need someone to tear your content apart and tell you when it’s as appealing as a wet sock.

Find a mentor, a coach, or a friend who isn’t afraid to tell you when you’re full of it (in a tough love kinda way).

3. Adapt or Die

Use the feedback to adapt your strategy.

Double down on what works, tweak what doesn’t.

4. Stack the Small Wins

Celebrate the small wins, whether it’s a post that doesn’t tank, a video that actually gets shared, or a DM from someone who isn’t trying to sell you crypto.

These little victories might seem insignificant, but acknowledging them will help keep you motivated.

5. Repeat Until Fluent

Just like learning Spanish, building a brand isn’t something you master overnight.

It’s a grind, and there will be days when you want to throw in the towel and join a monastery.

But keep at it, keep getting roasted by your feedback loop, and keep stacking those wins.

Eventually, you’ll be fluent in the language of success—or at least not completely clueless.

And there ya have it, ladies and gents.

Now, I gotta get ready for Spanish lessons.
