Feel alone? Read this:
I recently got back from a trip to Colombia with my 2 best friends, Taylin and Dale.
We rented out a big-ass villa. Went boating. And gave ourselves type-2 diabetes from all the restaurants we hit up.
Technically, it was a “work” trip.
Because we’re not just friends.
We’re also scaling our ghostwriting and coaching business together while hopping between countries.
Now, many would think we’re dumb because there’s of the common belief, "Don't mix friendship with business."
I say they just have the wrong friends.
But let me take you back to where it all started…
The Loneliest Year of My Life
5 years ago, I was grinding alone in random cafes for ~12 hours a day.
I had been building my ghostwriting business for a year.
Every rejection felt personal.
Every "no" felt like a slap in the face.
Every failure felt like a reason to quit.
I didn't have anyone to tell me I wasn't crazy when I got b*tch slapped by another setback.
And I didn't have anyone to celebrate with when something finally went right.
My family was happy for me when I landed my first $3K ghostwriting client…
But they didn't get it.
My normie friends asked if I was sure this "internet thing" was gonna work out.
I felt like I was climbing Mount Everest in flip flops with nobody to catch me when I fell.
That isolation almost killed my business before it started.
When you're building alone?
Every setback feels like proof you should quit.
Every doubt gets louder.
Every decision feels 10x heavier.
I was 2 bad months away from giving up and going back to my job.
Everything Changed When I Found My People
Then in 2022, Taylin became my coaching client.
Within 2 weeks, he hit $10K a month as a ghostwriter.
Within 90 days, he hit $42K and quit his teaching job.
To help, he brought on his friend Dale, who went from driving forklifts at Pepsi to running a 6-figure ghostwriting business.
Over time, we all became best friends and lived in Panama.
But we didn't just work together.
We built together.
When a client screwed me out of $20K, they helped me get through it.
When I doubted myself, they reminded me why I started.
When I won, they celebrated like it was their own victory.
For the first time in my business journey, I wasn't fighting alone.
What Hustle Gurus Won’t Tell You
Building a business alone is the hardest way to do it.
Not just because it's more work.
But because isolation kills more businesses than competition ever will.
When you build alone, you're missing three critical things:
Perspective
You can't see your blind spots. You make the same mistakes over and over because nobody's there to call you out.
Accountability.
It's easy to make excuses to yourself. It's harder to make excuses to people who believe in you.
Resilience
When shit hits the fan (and it will), having people in your corner is the difference between bouncing back and burning out.
Most entrepreneurs are miserable because they think asking for help makes them weak.
They grind themselves into the ground trying to figure everything out solo.
They celebrate their wins alone and suffer their losses alone.
Then they wonder why they feel empty.
Stop Fighting Alone
If you're building your ghostwriting business in isolation, you're making it 10 times harder than it needs to be.
You don't need to write content alone.
You don't need to figure out client acquisition alone.
You don't need to deal with imposter syndrome alone.
The fastest way to build a 6-figure ghostwriting business isn't grinding harder.
It's surrounding yourself with the right people.
People who'll call you out when you make excuses.
People who'll celebrate when you land your first $5K client.
People who'll help you see the blind spots keeping you stuck.
Because the difference between entrepreneurs who succeed and those who quit isn't talent.
It's having the right people in their corner when things get tough.
And trust me, things will get tough.
But they don't have to be lonely.
