Elon Musk just completely changed the Twitter algorithm...

4 key ways to beat the game

If you’re struggling to grow with Elon Musk’s new Twitter algorithm, I’m going to break down exactly how to grow your following, get more sales, and increase engagement.

I’ll simplify the 4 key areas you need to focus on to grow your Twitter in 2023:

  1. Relevance

  2. Metrics

  3. Association

  4. Interactions

Now, WTF do these mean?

1. Relevance

One of the most important changes to Twitter:

The “For You” timeline.

This is because it’s now the default feed and will prioritize content that’s aligned with user:

• Interest

• Relevance

• Engagement

So, you need to understand one thing:

If you’re too broad with your content, you won’t show up in many people’s “For You” unless they already engage with you frequently.

So…

If you’re a writer, tweet more about writing.

If you’re a marketer, tweet more about marketing.

If you’re a fitness coach, tweet more about fitness.

This will prioritize your content and attract your target audience.

2. Metrics

@NFT_GOD and @indexsy broke down the code and how different metrics are rated (links to their threads at the end).

Here’s the summary of how your content is boosted:

• Likes +30x boost

• Retweets +20x boost

• Get verified +1x boost

• Trending topic +1.1x boost

• Images or video +2x boost

• Follows generated from your tweet +4x boost

Now, here’s what you need to avoid…

• Multiple hashtags

• Posting links off platform

• Only posting links or images

• Getting your tweet reported

• Following more people than you have followers

3. Association

If you’re engaging with flagged or “low quality” accounts who do the actions listed in the prior tweet, you’re going to get penalized in the algorithm.

It’s important you only engage with high-quality accounts.

4. Interactions

Twitter wants to keep users on as long as possible.

Which means…

The more genuine interactions you have and the longer someone spends viewing your tweets, the better.

So, take 15-20 minutes at the end of the day to respond to comments on your posts.

This will boost your posts in the algo and build a connection with your followers.

Two accounts did a great breakdown of the info I just summarized. If you want a more in-depth look, you can check the threads out here:

But, that’s all I got for y’all today, folks.

Happy Thursday.
