They banned me.
I woke up to a message you don’t want to see:

219,000 followers on Instagram:
Gone.
43,000 followers on Threads:
Gone.
But what’s more interesting?
Meta banned me because they said I was impersonating someone and/or speaking on someone’s behalf without their permission.

This is flat out wrong.
But after talking to people who have connections within Meta, I found out someone bribed a Meta employee to ban my account.
Not very nice of ‘em.
My best guess is somebody is a bit jealous and wanted to screw me over as a birthday present to me.
Am I stressed?
Nah.
And that’s what I wanted to touch on in today’s email quickly.
Shit like this happens.
Whether you actually violate a platform’s rules or someone bribes an employee to ban your account because you’re just too handsome…
You can get lose your entire following and/or business at a drop of a hat.
That’s why it’s crucial to not just rely on one social media platform.
Sure, at the start focus on one.
But once you grow a decent sized following, scale to other ones.
Not only will you expose yourself to new potential clients, but you’ll build connections with new people within your industry.
If I hadn’t built my following on X (Twitter) I wouldn’t be in talks with somebody to get my account unbanned right now.
So, my friend, consider hedging your bets so you’re prepared for the day you potentially get the same message I got this morning.
Your Canadian friend,
Dakota “Banned” Robertson
P.S.
Want to build on multiple social media platforms and prevent this from happening to you?
My upcoming cohort, Growth Ghost, is opening up applications in 2 days.
But only for those on my waitlist.
In this cohort I’ll show you how to grow on LinkedIn AND X (Twitter).
Plus, I’ll show you how to make money with social media or newsletter ghostwriting and make your first $10,000 within 6 months.
I’m only doing 100 spots, so once they’re gone, they’re gone.
First applications will go out on the 6th.
