1 reason why you can't land clients...
How to charge $$$ for your offer
I was on a consultation call with a productivity coach the other day.
On the call, he telling me how he was struggling to land clients for an offer that’s $500 for 2 months of coaching.
That’s $16 a day…
This is low compared to most coaching programs.
And it made me curious…
Why can’t he even land 1 client?
So, the first question I asked him was, “Who are you reaching out to?”
Turns out, he was targeting who he was a couple years ago:
21-year-old college students.
Can you guess what the problem was?
Well, put simply…
MOST 21-YEAR-OLD COLLEGE STUDENTS ARE BROKE.
No money.
Zip.
Nada.
Nothing.
Not only that, but most 21-year-olds don’t need or see the value in productivity coaching.
So we have 2 problems:
1) The offer is not relevant to most
2) Even if they wanted to buy, most wouldn’t be able to afford it
“It’s likely not your offer that’s the problem, it’s who you’re offering it to.” I told him.
Instead, I suggested he go on LinkedIn, find older and established people in business, and offer his services to them.
Because…
They’ll have money.
They’ll likely see more value in his offer.
They’ll get a tangible ROI if they’re more efficient with their time.
And the offer will be more powerful because it’ll solve a pain for many of those types of people (not having enough time to spend with their family) so they’ll be more motivated to buy.
So, before you sell anything, I want you to think WHO you are selling to.
1) Do they have money?
2) Do they care about what you’re offering?
This comes down to market research.
Talk to the people you’re trying to help. Figure out their pains, desires, and lifestyle.
Then, create an offer around that.
When you do this, you’ll be able to land clients easier and charge much more.
So, my friend, repeat after me:
“I WILL NOT MARKET TO BROKE PEOPLE.”
But, with all that said, I hope you have a beautiful Thursday.
