The 1 mistake killing your personal brand
I was taking a stroll down a street in London the other day when a man caught my eye…

The sun bounced off his black rubber boots.
The solid brick wall behind him contrasted with his camouflaged uniform.
However, the camo might’ve worked too well, because his attempts of marketing his book were ignored.
Swarms of people passed him every second, and they were too busy to care.
Beside the soldier sat a stack of unsold books — memoirs of his time in the military as an immigrant Nigerian.
And honestly?
I had doubts he was making any sales at all, but I respected the hustle.
So, I bought a book from the guy.
Not because I wanted to, but because I like supporting artists.
Now, I don’t tell you this story to make you think I’m such a good person (I’m kinda an ass because I left the book by the subway for someone else to read).
But I tell you this because I see SO many people on social media make the same mistake as the military guy.
They only post content about themselves.
They think they’re a special snowflake and that people will see how great they are and wanna follow them.
Spoiler alert:
Nobody gives a fuck who you are at the start.
Yes, even you Brad…
Nobody cares that you read Marcus Aurelius, read Tony Robbins books, and can bench 185lb.
And unfortunately, many people never see results because they believe “You are the niche”.
No, you are not the niche (yet).
At the start of your social media journey, people don’t have a reason to care about you.
They only care about you AFTER you’re useful to them.
This means helping people:
Solve their pain points
Achieve their desired outcomes
And when you do this?
People will:
Consume your content
Follow you
Become your client
Now, what I’ve just talked about is the importance of delivering value to your audience.
But what’s just as important is how you package your content.
Otherwise you’re just gonna blend in with the thousands of other creators competing for attention.
If you don’t wanna be like the military guy with swarms of people ignoring you and your content, then you gotta learn 1 skill:
Copywriting (AKA persuasive writing).
So if you’re serious about content and writing, then I highly recommend checking out my friend, Kieran’s newsletter.
Kieran is an OG in the creator space and has built a $500K/year writing business.
When you sign up using the link below he’ll even send you his (suspiciously named) copywriting framework, called SUCKS.
Kieran is one of my favorite writers, so definitely check it out.
But with that being said, my friend, I hope you have a kickass day.
