1 mindset shift I made to hit my 1st $50K month
How to use "pain" to your advantage
It was 6 months after I decided to drop out of college and quit my job…
At the time, I was dedicated to making a living as an online writer.
And I’ll admit, it wasn’t sunshine and rainbows at the start.
I was overwhelmed.
I felt like an imposter.
I questioned what I was doing.
But the fear of living a life of regret was stronger than my fear of failure.
I was determined to make it work. I had the drive but just needed to channel it in the right direction.
My focus was scattered, bouncing from idea to idea.
I was at around 3,000 followers at the time and making a whopping $0 per month from the internet. Not much to show for my efforts.
I knew something needed to change.
But thankfully, I hit up my friend Dan Koe to inquire about his coaching program.
And on that call I was faced with a decision…
Keep doing what I’ve been doing, or, invest $8,000 on his program.
Now, I’ll admit, when he told me the price, I paused for a second.
I mean, sure, I had money saved up, but I was quite literally making $0 at the time.
But I went with my gut and moved forward.
And you know what?
It was one of the best decisions I ever made.
Not because of the program itself (don’t get me wrong, it was fucking amazing).
But because of 1 mindset shift.
You see, up until that point, I was scattered with my focus. I was doing the work that kept me busy, but not productive. Everything was an equal priority so I wasn’t progressing as much as I should have.
But once I paid that invoice, everything changed.
I had accountability.
Not only was I accountable to a mentor, but since I invested a fair amount, I kept myself 10x more accountable so I got my money’s worth.
The result?
• I focused much better
• I said “no” to unimportant tasks
• I was given deadlines and I met them
And within 5 months, I was at $11,000/month.
About 6 months after that, I hit my first $50,000 month (revenue).
Now, why am I telling you all this?
Well, recently I’ve reached another roadblock.
I’m trying to scale my agency to $100,000/month but as I’m scaling, I’m running into challenges.
• I’m learning leadership skills
• I’m learning to priotize tasks better
• I’m learning to delegate more work
• I’m learning how to create better systems
Because what got me to point B won’t get me to point C.
So, what did I do?
Once again, I invested in another mentorship program, Client Ascension.
But this time, I had no hesitation investing because I understand the value of accountability from people many steps ahead of you.
Now, am I saying you need to drop thousands of dollars on a mentorship program.
No.
But I am saying that you should be investing in yourself whenever possible.
We often look for “hacks” or “apps” that’ll shortcut us to success.
But deep down, you know what you need to be doing.
The boring, challenging, and tedius work.
And in my opinion, there’s no better way to force yourself to do it than creating ‘tactical pressure.’
So, find ways to create accountability:
• Give a close friend a certain $ and have them keep it if you don’t complete a goal in a certain timeframe
• Invest in mentorships
• Buy a course
Anything where you force yourself to invest a meaningful amount.
And don’t just apply this to yourself, apply it to your clients as well.
Don’t charge “cheap prices.”
Charge as much as humanly possible.
It will make your clients more invested in your service and you’ll be able to deliver much better results.
So, with that being said, I’ll leave you with one of my favourite business quotes:
“People who pay, pay attention.” - Russell Brunson
Have a kickass Thursday, my friends.

Dakota “Bet on yourself” Robertson
P.S.
I wasn’t told to, compensated, or receive any commission for promoting Client Ascension. I just like sharing stuff I find valuable. I’m a few days into the program and already loving it.
