Why writing every day will change your life
After 14 months of writing, we hit 50,000 followers on Twitter. And man, it’s surreal to think.

2 and a half years ago I was in a pretty shitty situation...
I was working 12-hour days every day, just trading my time (and life) for money. My girlfriend at the time just broke up with me and the only source of “happiness” I had was binge eating 12 packs of cookies after work.
I had no idea where I was going in life.
I was frustrated. I knew I had drive and discipline, but I had nowhere to put that energy. I felt like a loser. And that’s why I’m grateful I found Twitter. It’s why I’m grateful I found you guys. It’s been a helluva journey writing on Twitter.
And I know what it’s like.
In the beginning, it’s scary to post your thoughts online. You feel like an imposter and you’re basing your “worthiness” off how well a tweet performs. And that gut-wrenching feeling when you get your first piece of hate in the comments. Shit sucks haha.
I don’t know where you’re at in your writing journey, or hell, if you’ve even started, but wherever you are along the path, I encourage you to write.
Write every day, even if nobody reads it. Kinda like how right now, I’m writing and have no idea if anyone is going to read this.
Because, to be honest, I’m selfish.
I write because it gives me clarity of thought. It reinforces what I learn. I’m forced to turn a jumble of thoughts in my brain into thoughts that make sense on screen or paper. If someone reads this and benefits from it, great. If not, that’s fine too. Because every time I write, I become a better thinker. And that’s a skill that applies to every aspect of life.
I guess that’s the entire point me writing this email to you. Doesn’t matter what you do or where you are in life, just write.
If you want to understand yourself, write. If you want to make more sales, write. If you want to grow your Twitter account, write. Everyone’s goals are different, but the underlying process is the same.
Thinking.
Today’s email is a more of a journal entry, but I hope you got value from it.
I appreciate you following along on the journey. Means a lot to me to have y’all along for the ride. Thank you for allowing me to do what I do.
Your Canadian friend,
Dakota Robertson
