How to turn diarrhea into gold
“Everyone has diarrhea.”
My good friend, Nicholas Verge, told me this prolific statement a few months ago.
That cute barista at Starbucks who made you your coffee?
She’s got diarrhea.
The sweet old lady you helped cross the road the other day?
Diarrhea.
The guru flexing his Lambo and Rolex on Instagram?
He’s definitely got explosive volcano diarrhea.
Now, as the great Jordan Peterson likes to say:

Last week, I went to a business event hosted by a coaching program I’m associated with.
With over a 100 people in attendance, most of them were doing over $10,000/month with their business.
Some doing well over $100,000/month.
And the more people I talked to, the more I realized Nick’s statement was true (don’t worry, just metaphorically).
Everyone seems like they have it all figured out with business.
All you see on social media is people posting their wins and making it seem like they piss sunshine and rainbows.
But after speaking to many of the people at the event, I realized this couldn’t be farther from the truth.
• Most didn’t have 6-packs
• Most didn’t have a super big-brain IQ
• Most didn’t have a 4D chess master plan
Many of the people I talked to were shy, young, and figuring things out along the way.
They had metaphorical diarrhea.
Despite this, they were still making a full-time living online.
So, lemme explain why I’m telling you this elaborate diarrhea story…
How To Turn Diarrhea Into Gold
Raise your hand if one of these statements sounds like you:
• You feel like business just isn’t for you because you’re “not the type of person” for it
• You tried your hand at online business but quit a few weeks in because you saw little results
• You compare yourself to successful people and procrastinate getting started because you want the “perfect” plan
This was my mindset 3 years ago.
I thought everyone else had it figured out and I was the odd man out.
But thankfully, my fear of regret became stronger than my fear of failure and I got into the creator/online business space.
I became friends with many successful creators like Dan Koe, David Mendes, and Joey Justice.
And the more I talked to them, the more I realized they weren’t much different than me.
They just started earlier.
And the same goes for you.
You probably see people who look like they have it all figure out, but I guarantee you, they’re not geniuses.
Making a full-time career online is more attainable than you think.
So how do you turn your challenges, your ‘diarrhea,’ into something valuable?
You need to brainwash yourself into becoming the person you want to become.
And the best way I’ve found to do this is by surrounding yourself with other like-minded people.
• People who are ambitious in life
• People who you can mastermind with
• People who don’t laugh at your “crazy” goals
When you surround yourself with this energy, your mind operates at a higher frequency.
You’ll think bigger and take action on goals that seemed unreachable before.
Being in the right environment is like taking an antidote for your metaphorical diarrhea—it clears up the doubt and the fear that have been holding you back.
Here are some steps to take right now:
Community Building: Find online communities or local meetups where like-minded individuals gather. The energy and knowledge in these groups can be contagious.
Mentorship: Seek out mentors who have walked the path you want to take. Their hindsight can be your foresight, saving you time and diarrhea moments.
Education: Never stop learning. Platforms like YouTube and X can help you gain skills at your own pace.
Consistency: Show up every day, no matter how small the task. It’s better to make incremental progress than none at all.
Reflection: Take time to acknowledge your small wins and analyze your failures. Both are invaluable teachers.
Mindset Shift: Cultivate a growth mindset. Every “diarrhea” moment is a chance to grow stronger and more resilient.
So, my friend, remember, what we see on the surface—whether it’s on social media or during a fleeting encounter—is rarely the full story.
Just like that barista, that elderly lady, and even the Instagram guru, everyone is dealing with their own messes.
But it’s those who choose to see their mess as a resource that can harness it into something of value.
Even if its metaphorical diarrhea.
So, when you find yourself in the throes of self-doubt, remember that even the most successful people have been there.
They just chose to turn their ‘diarrhea’ into gold.
You can too.
(this is one of the dumbest metaphors I’ve ever used but I’m rolling with it).
