This might get you dirty looks, but it'll make you money...

A story about waterslides

The crowd gave us dirty looks while we giggled like idiots…

While standing in line, one woman tapped me on my back.

“Why are you cutting in front of us?”

“Because we paid” I told her, pointing at my extra wristband.

We were at the world’s largest waterpark in Dubai.

But before entering, we bought the “Fast Pass” for an extra $60, which allowed us to cut in front of the lines.

Now, if you’re like me, growing up you were conditioned to believe paying $60 for something like that is a ripoff.

But, my question to you is, what’s your time worth?

$20/hour?

$100/hour?

$1500/hour?

Everything you do has a trade off.

So, sure, we paid an extra $60.

But while people waited 30-60 minutes to go down 1 slide, we spent 5-10 minutes.

And this is kinda douchey…

But my friends and I were laughing because we’d go on a slide, come back up, see the same people, then cut in front of them again to ride the slide before them )I’m sadistic, I know).

But you may be wondering “WTF does this have to do with online business?”

Well, because just like the waterslides, business is a game that's pay to play.

In the past 2 years, I’ve spent $40,000+ on mentors.

I see a slide I want to go on (skill I want to learn).

I pay for a ‘Fast Pass’ (mentor who has experience).

I get to cut in front of the line (get better than the competition).

That’s the reason I’ve been able to grow faster than some when it comes to social media and business.

Now, can you wait in line like everybody else and figure things out on your own?

100%.

Is this the best route to get the most value from your money?

Probably not.

Most people shy away from hiring a mentor because they only look at the 1st level consequences and think, “Oh, this program will cost me $[insert number].”

But they don’t see the true value:

Time.

When you hire a mentor, you’re paying for the:

• Lessons

• Systems

• Mistakes

• Frameworks

You get to learn in a short period of time that took them years to master.

And that's not to mention the secondary benefits…

If you learn faster than others, your skills compound faster.

The faster they compound, the farther ahead you get.

Yes, there's an up front cost, but the long-term benefit is much higher if you find the right mentor.

So, my friend, my advice to you, find people who are in positions you wanna be in life, pay for their time, and follow their advice.

It's an easy way to get years ahead in a short amount of time.

Much love, and happy Thursday.

Your Canadian friend,

Dakota "Slip n' Slide" Robertson
