Why blind people are the most successful

“What’s the 1 trait you’ve seen from the most successful people you’ve helped?”

I was recently asked this while onboarding a new cohort member on a 1-1 call.

My answer?

They’re all sexy af.

Kidding.

The real answer is simple:

They take action.

To show you what I mean, picture this…

You’re a blind person in a house (I guess you can’t really picture anything if you’re blind, but stick with me here).

At the start, you don’t know where anything is…

You’re just moving around and bumping into stuff.

(OH F*CK YOU JUST TIPPED OVER THE URN THAT HAS GRANDMA JOSEPHINE’S ASHES).

You pray nobody saw you do it and move stumble into the next room.

You have no idea where anything is and just keep moving forward.

But…

After a little bit of time, you start getting a feel for where things are.

You recognize patterns.

You know when you get to the end of one wall, it leads to a doorway.

That doorway leads to the kitchen, the kitchen leads to the living room.

You’re feeling around and starting to learn where things are placed.

Over time, you can navigate through the house with ease because you’ve done it so many times.

The same concept applies to learning anything.

The people that see the best success often aren’t the best starting out.

In fact…

They’re pretty shitty.

But the key difference between the successful and unsuccessful?

They start and figure things out as they go.

They navigate around like a blind person, bumping into stuff and feelings things out.

Sure, they screw up and break a few things along the way…

But over the long term?

They’re doing a helluva lot better than those watching from the sidelines.

So, my friend, maybe don’t become blind, but live life a little more like a blind person.

(I never thought I’d make an analogy like this, but it’s late at night as a write this, so this is what you get hahah)
